Over 10,000 kids in York County qualify for free or reduced lunches during the school year, and yet during the summer only a small portion of those take advantage of free lunches available at meal sites in many towns. For the past two summers, PfHFYC has been working with local schools, community partners and others to find ways to increase participation at existing sites and to support new sites where there currently are none. Sometimes it is a question of consolidating resources. Often, programming - no matter how simple- provided by schools or other organizations can make a big difference in turnout. In the past two summers, the number of summer meals served in York County has increased by almost 22,000! But we can do better, and need your help!
